How does Afterpay work for dental treatment?

Accepted Answer

Afterpay splits your treatment cost into four equal fortnightly instalments. No interest applies when you pay on time. Afterpay is available for dental treatment costs up to $2,000 and can be approved instantly using the Afterpay app. You will need an active Afterpay account, a valid debit or credit card, and to be at least 18 years of age. Approval is at Afterpay's discretion.

What is Fund My Dental and how does it differ from Afterpay?

Fund My Dental is an Australian dental finance provider suitable for larger treatment plans between $2,000 and $15,000. Repayment terms range from 3 to 24 months with no interest charged when paid within the agreed term. Unlike Afterpay's four-instalment structure, Fund My Dental allows you to spread costs over a longer period — useful for treatments such as [dental implants](/dental-implants) or [Invisalign](/invisalign). Fund My Dental is regulated under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009.

Are there any interest charges on the payment plans?

Accepted Answer

No interest is charged on either Afterpay or Fund My Dental when payments are made according to the agreed schedule. Afterpay may apply late fees if a scheduled payment is missed. Fund My Dental terms are outlined in your loan agreement prior to sign-up. All payment plan terms are confirmed in writing before treatment begins, consistent with the ADA's guidelines on informed financial consent.

Can I combine a payment plan with my health fund benefits?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you have private health insurance, your fund rebate is processed via HICAPS at the time of your appointment. You pay only the gap amount remaining after your rebate. That gap can then be split across an Afterpay or Fund My Dental plan if preferred. For example, if a treatment costs $1,500 and your fund pays $400, the $1,100 gap could be spread over Afterpay's four fortnightly instalments. Speak with our reception team to arrange this at your appointment.
